Please someone, get me connected. I have 3 desktops and one laptop that I've been using with a Linksys router with to connect to the net through DSL for some time now.

The laptop and one desktop both are using WinXP and one desktop still has WinMe on it. That leaves the last desktop to which I've tried both RedHat 8.0 and 9.0 in a effort to break into the world of using linux. I'm totally new at any and everything dealing with linux.

I would like to continue using the 9.0 but if anyone can help me connect, I'll use whatever it takes in whatever configuration it requires. I need the steps from start to finish if at all possible.

open up a console and type:


#ifconfig


if you get an entry for eth0 the type the following:


#dhcpcd eth0


if that doesnt get u connected. holla back.


do all this as root.
