Question Internet connection quota with Linux gateway

Is there a way of implementing a quota system (based on usage per day per user) on a system which has a Linux gateway to the Internet and a local private LAN (all local PCs are connected either through a wireless router or a standard router)?

Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.

you can use squid itself to restrict web access for a particular ip or subnet for a particular hour or day. find yourself a squid-definitive guide or a howto for more information.
