Question Intermittent Putty Denial Connection

Hello guys, what could be the cause of Intermittent connection error refused on SSH?

The apache web page also having issue it loads the admin page but after a few seconds it will auto reload itself and keeps doing this forever.

I suspect if the admin page is okay SSH is also okay.

The weird thing if the admin page reloads status is healthy.

Distro: Debian Whezzy (ReadyNAS OS 6)

Yes it's a Netgear device. I asked here whether someone can help, device is out of warranty.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

More information would be better.
Are there log files on this devvice? Have you checked the sshd logs? Have you checked the web logs?

Hi wpeckham, i'm really puzzled logs are okay. Dmesg.log no any errors.

Netgear has Raidar application that tells the status of the NAS. All drives are healthy. Then I manage to download the diagnostics logs, it says system is working fine. No errors recorded on the diagnostic log.

I think there's a failure that the system is not capturing.

I assume booting is fine since it able to loads the admin page but it reloads after 2 or 5 seconds or more, it's quite random.

The only thing I can see from the apache logs that it keeps restarting and on their system-journald logs egnyte application has failed to start. Other than these two i don't see errors that causes the issue.

Since they are using debian linux, i'm searching the web for same issues related to apache keeps reloading but still cannot find anything that will help.

In apache logs, there is no error.log, Error.log will only be generated if there is an error?

Thanks for your reply.

Check the security and sshd logs. Look in particular for differences between the messages, and when putty can connect and when it fails.
You might also set logging on in putty, and check the log after both kinds of session attempts.
