Intermittant ppp disconnection..

Hi there,

I'm a real newbie, so please bear with me..

I've managed to stumble through all of the ppp and eth configuration settings etc.. and it all works. However, for no apparent reason, every now and then (ranges between 30minutes to about 4 hours) I get forcefully disconnected from the net, and an error that says my modem hung up the connection.

I'm using a "Softk 56 MicroModem", with the drivers and they work (I'll get a *real* modem soon, promise :)). I've setup "Internet Connection Sharing" using the config tool in the mandrake control center, and it all works fine.

I'm using Mandrake 9, xp2200+, epox 8rda+, 256mb ddr pc2100 ram.

also, are there any programs available that will automatically reconnect the connection if its dropped? If there are, then this wont be a prob :)

Thanks again,

m3rlin

Are you using Kppp? It has an option for reconnecting, and using the 'debug' additional arguement for pppd might help with stability or at least tracking the error. :)
