Intel Lan Card not detecting

HI Geeks,
Hope this message finds you all in good of health and well-being.
I am facing a typical problem.I have a IBM eserver x-series 206 model No. 8482-ICS.The onboard LAN card on the server i.e Intel Pro 1000 card is not getting detected on RedHat Enterprise Linux As 3.0.I ran the diagnostic from the accompanying CD and found the test passed.I checked the drivers and modules in the kernel and found it proper. But It does'nt even loads the module with insmod and modprobe.

[root@Srv root]# insmod e1000
Using /lib/modules/2.4.21-4.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o
/lib/modules/2.4.21-4.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

[root@MumSrv root]# modprobe -a e1000
/lib/modules/2.4.21-4.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.21-4.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.21-4.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.21-4.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o: insmod e1000 failed

The module does not even shows up on the lsmod command.

Will be thankful if anyone can advice.

Regards,
Amit

Have you installed the latest updates? There has been at least one RHEL3 update for the e1000 driver.
