Question Intel 82801/82815 ICH2 driver required for Kernel 2.2

Problem: 10Meg. Half Duplex mode required, however intermittent NIC freezing causing complete system hang, require reboot. Problem occurs at 100Meg. as well, but not as frequent.

Hardware type:
IBM N70 Network computer which has the on-board Intel Chip Set 82801/82815 ICH2.

Software:
Currently using Kernel 2.2.20 running on a Memory module, therefore not all utilities are available.
/etc/sysconfig/hwconfig shows driver rtl8139; Realtek 8139; Vendor ID 10ec; deviceId: 8139;
/proc/interrupts: Irq 9 Eth0; Irq 10 Intel ICH2

Question:
- I haven't been able to find the correct driver for this Chip set and suspect that the Realtek 8139 driver is the problem.
- Saw a few messages from Jocelyn for Kernel 2.4 solutions on the Forum which were along the same lines but different Kernel.

Any suggestions on how to best resolve this problem ?
