Intel 82557 NIC fails to connect in FC6
 

Recently, I gained access to an old P2 400mhz box my dad had built about nine years ago, and tried installing Fedora 6.

It's up and running, but I can't get connect to the net. Unfortunately, I'm new enough to Linux that I don't even know how to identify what's wrong. The only error I get is when I go into System->Administration->Network and attempt to activate eth0 it sits for a while with "Determining IP information for eth0...", then appends " failed".

The router it's plugged into is the same as the computer I'm typing on, and moving the plug around to different ports doesn't make a difference.

Any suggestions?
