Installing Samba=Giving two rabid cats 1 bath

hi everyone. as u could probably guess, i'm having trouble installing samba. i am following the how to listed on samba's website and i'm getting stuck fairly early on. after untaring the file i cd into the dir and then into the source dir... here i run ./configure... no probs yet. after this i try to run make and this is where it stops. i have verified the dl as it suggests and even went so far as to get another copy of the file. the result is the same each time. here is the result:

make: Circular /home/ronin/Executed <- /home/ronin/Executed dependency dropped.
make: *** No rule to make target `DLs/samba-3.0.2a/source/configure.in', needed by `/home/ronin/Executed'. Stop.

any thoughts here?

could you post a more detailed error message?
also have you tried finding precompiled slackware packages for Samba...i am sure you would find some. Those should be much easier to install than go around installing source files.
just a though.

Swaret updates slackware.

Here is a link.

Many people use it here, if you have trouble setting it up many of us can help.

Happy slacking
