Installation:
This document will guide the user through getting the latest MIB and CFG files copied and installed on their management server.
NOTE: The user must log in as root on HP-UX/Linux. In addition, when updating the MIBs for HP SIM, the log in account must also be a full-rights HP SIM user in order to execute tools such as MxMib.
NOTE: This kit contains modifications to event types which if used in a query could cause the query to not trigger as the query mechanism uses a perfect match scheme.
Install MIBs Update on an HP-UX/Linux Platform:
The procedure for HP-UX and Linux is the same for both Operating Systems and only runs if HP SIM (any version) is installed.
Log in to HP-UX/Linux as root.
Create a directory such as /root/mgmtcd ( mkdir mgmtcd), It does not have to exist off of the root but for the purposes of this document it does).
Launch your browser with this URL:
http://www.hp.com/go/hpsim and navigate to the MIBs download.
Select Download->HP SIM - (HP-UX or Linux)->Proliant MIB update kit for HP SIM.
Download and save the tar file, upd930mib.tar.gz to the newly created directory, /root/mgmtcd
Start a terminal and navigate to the new directory ( cd /root/mgmtcd )
Extract the contents of upd930mib.tar.gz by entering the following command:
tar -xvzf upd930mib.tar.gz
Incase of HP-UX platform, extract the contents of upd930mib.tar.gz by entering the following command:
gunzip upd930mib.tar.gz
tar -xvf upd930mib.tar
Execute the following:
chmod +x updatemibs
Execute the following:
./updatemibs
The script will run and display messages on the terminal.
When the script completes, you may remove the directory /root/mgmtcd and all its contents.
