Installing a SHURECOM Nic on Mandrake 8.2


Hi there and hello.....I´m looking for some info on How to install a Surecom NIC..on man8.2...the drivers on the 8.2...does not exist !..What drivers could i use instead ?
I´m not shure what chip that is on the Nic..but the 320X-R has the Realtech 81..something chip...and mandrake did not like that choice of drivers...Do I Need A new nic ?

The only NIC driver that Redhat suggests using with that NIC is the tulip.o driver for the PCI card and the pcnet_cs driver for the PCMCIA card. I don't know how to find the HCL list on mandrakes website. It also shows it as being questionable. Which model do you have exactly?

It might be, actually, it probably is a tulip, but without knowing everything about its not easy to guess. For instance, the entire series of dlink cards from 550 (with 5-6 different letters here), spanned 4 different chipsets. The best way to know is to let the kernel tell you. Try the command:

lspci

and post the output here, well, at least the part about the NIC.
