Install of 2nd NIC
Hi there! I am running Redhat 9 and I am trying to install a second NIC (eth0 is hardwired into the motherboard and the eth1 is an PCI Planex 1200TC NIC) in order to setup a DMZ zone under shorewall. The new NIC is also a PCI Planex 1200TC (GN-1200TC) card. I used the network GUI in redhat 9 to setup all three interfaces and they all activate (however, I have to boot with only my eth/ppp0 installed and then reinstall eth1 and eth2). eth0/ppp0 and eth1, which is the loc zone under shorewall access the internet just fine -- the speed seems to ramp up and down, but otherwise no trouble. However, eth2 won't connect to the internet. Since shorewall starts up just fine, I think that the files are set correctly.
Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get things going? I have tried everything I could easily find on the internet but to no avail.
Sincerely,
Brian

If eth2 is a dmz, nothing in there should be allowed to start a connection to the internet..
Reply to connections, ok, but not start any..
Check the Shorewall settings to see if you have to specifically allow new connections out of the dmz zone.. eg smtp.
