install Novel Client on Redhat 9.0

i'm new to Linux, and would really appreciate it if someone could provide me with step by step installation instructions on installing novel client ver 0.82 on the Red Hat 9.0 workstation. i am able to install the client just fine, however upon starting the client up, there is no server in order to be able to connect too. also when clicking on the tree button, i get an error message that says please specify an SLP DA agent. i'm not sure i even wish to use that protocol. i have been reading different documentation on this issue and it appears if i need to install the ncpfs package in order to mount the server i need. however, when un-tarring this ncpfs package and navigating to the directory and typing "make" i get an error amoung some other things that looks like this:

ncpmount.c:201:2 #error "You must define at least one of MOUNT2, MOUNT3" ncpmount.c: In function `main':
ncpmount.c:659: warning: implicit declaration of function 'getmountver'
make[1]: *** [ncpmount.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/user/src/ncpfs-2.2.0/sutil'
make: *** [all] Error 2

again i'm very new to linux, and alot of this is very foreign to me. i would appreciate any help anyone could give me in resolving this issue. thanks

You can find step by step installation instructions here : http://novelclient.sourceforge.net/howto.html.
Yes, you need to install ncpfs package together with ipxutils package. Both can be found as RPM packages on the Redhat CD no.2. So you do not need to compile them!. Then you must decide, what protocol (IP, IPX or both) you will use to make NCP connections and configure the system accordingly (see How-To).
The SLP DA is used to provide an automatically generated list of fileservers (when using IP) - its IP address is entered in the "Settings" tab.
