IMAP problem with Mozilla mail client

My remote server's (redehat 9.0) imap program runs well on, I can remotely telnet mail.my_domain.com 143 port and get positive response; now at my local machine I use a Mozilla as email client,
I set up the incoming server as mail.my_domain.com and 143 as port, when I try to retrieve my email from my remote server, the system says: Login to server mail.my_domian.com failed, why?

Thx,
HTM

Great, do I need to install POP3 package on my remote server,
or Redhat 9.0 already have the service built-in?

Thx,
HTM

In most cases having installed imap brings pop, pops, etc,etc so you only need to go to /etc/inetd (i m not shure about this cos i use another distro where inetd is replaced as xinetd and its placed in different way, but if its wrong and you canīt find it there just search for pop in your partitions) and modify pop service and change disable = yes for disable = no, that should do it, then just restart your inet service and thats all.

Emilio.

Again, thanks a lot.

BTW, do you have any good suggestions for me
on a free web statistics software? I tried
awstats, found its setup is quite difficult?

Thx,

pop3 remaining issues

My pop3 server works well, but I found one strange thing,
since I add my pop3 server besides existing impa server,
I cannot receiv any outside email such as hotmail and yahoo
among others, I was suspecting it was imap problem, so I
disable it, and it is still the same.

here is the message I got from hotmail when I tried to send a
test email to an account at my mail server:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed.

In yahoo, I even cannot get any info

Why? Could anyone give me any points? Where should I get
any log or debug info to see my email server's receiving side is still
OK?

Thx,
HTM
