ifconfig iw* hanging

I am running 2.4.25 and I have finally got me wireless pcmcia card working.
well when i say working i can connect to the network and it loads its firmware and get its dhcp info and all that.

BUT when i type ifconfig or any thing that seems to ask the wireless driver for someit it (ifconfig) just hangs ctrl-c does nout kill -9 does nout!

dmesg returns stuff like this:

eth1: out of memory, cannot handle oid 0x0360d8f3
also gives
kernel BUG at oid_mgt.c:333!

and what seems to be debug info or something.

Everything else seem grand
