identd file for irc

for some reason, when i try to log into an irc server and it checks for my identd file, it says it could not find it. i know i have identd installed. does anyone know how to configure it for red hat linux 7.1...

I think what you mean is that when you connect to an IRC server it looks for port 113 auth on your linux system.

To enable this port simply do this:
Warning: it's crap for security and will give out your Linux login name.

/etc/rc.d/init.d/identd start

i tried that command and it still gave me a no identd response error. i set up identd to run in level 5 on boot up, so it should be running. ive searched all over the web, for an identd configration link, but everyone is running 6.x or 7.0. in 7.1 some of the configuration files are different and some of the scripts need to be edited a different way...... im soooooo pissed. this is FU*@($G rediculous
