i have a secondary dns server

i just catted var/log/messages

and this is all i got

Nov 10 14:00:04 bubba named[14948]: lame server on '' (in ''?):

I have just about 101 MB of that

What is wrong with my named.conf? I can't find anything wrong

Most common reason for Lame Server delegation - having an NS record for a sub-domain and ALSO having records for that sub-domain in the same place.

You may have to post your domain file as well as the named.conf file (maybe from both the backup and primary controllers)

what ports do you need open for named to work?
i am only letting through udp and tcp 53
