I cannot see my own server from computers on my LAN
 

Can someone please help? I set up an apache webserver running redhat9, but I cannot access it with my other computers on the same LAN through the public IP. I can acces it only thru the private IP of the webserver. Computers that are not on this LAN can access the webserver just fine. The non LAN computers can even access it by using the domain name that I have. The setup is: 4 computers on the LAN using a D-Link 614+ router, the apache webserver has DMZ enabled.

might be that your router is seeing those attempts as intended for configuring it through its gui.I have the same problem. My apache is behind my firewall and my computers cannot access it through its domain name, but can through its local ip. I end up getting to the configuration screen of my firewall......... not a problem, just inconvenient. what are you looking to do that makes it necessary to go out to the internet and then back in rather than just using the local IP?

Another simple solution to this one could be the addition of the of the domain name to an ip address within in your own local hosts file.
This will make it possible so that you computer doesn't have to go out to the internet to resolve local hosts.
The file is /etc/hosts
For windows 2000/xp its in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
i think its in c:\windows\hosts for 95/98
