I cannot access any remote windows.

I access the internet through a gateway. Whenever I try to access a remote windows PC it says the remote computer could not be reached.

The gateway has a firewall which is a web-based front end for iptables. I'm not very used to this, so i went to the command line.

I tried
iptables -I FORWARD -p tcp --dport 3389 -j ACCEPT #it does not work
iptables -I OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 3389 -j ACCEPT #it does not work either

I tried several other rules i thought could work, but i didnt get my pc to access any external windows machine.

I know im doing something stupid, but i cannot see what it is.
Can someone help me, please?

Are you sure that the Windows PCs are even configured to react to Remote Desktop requests? They can be set not to, and the in-built or an additional firewall on the Win PCs might also block the port.

By any chance is the outgoing firewall blocking those remote packets on the way out.

Your computer might be connecting to them, however, might not be getting anything back?

The following rules were added and now its working.

iptables -A POSTROUTING -s -o eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 3389 -j MASQUERADE
iptables -A FORWARD -s -o eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 3389 -j ACCEPT

Thank you guys.
