I am looking at multicast with the help of pim-sm protocol.

I looked in to this formum previously and got the similar question which
Mr. Aman has previously. Hey Can you tell me the answer of this question and from where did you get the code of pim-sm implemented by pavlin.

Hi

I am learner in Linux.

I am trying to run the PIM-SM code on linux. I have the linux kernel of version 2.2.12-20 on i686. I have the PIM-SM code of version 2.1.0-alpha28 implemented by Pavlin Ivanov Radoslavov. I have some basic doubts

1. Earlier IP multicast support was not there, now I have recompiled the kernel. Now I am not able to ping to 224.0.0.1 & 224.0.0.2. I searched thru website I got to know that the route has to be added. My question is what is the need to add the route explicitly, whereas in windows it is not needed?

2. I saw a file ipmr.c in linux which has the option of receving the PIM-SM version 1 and version 2. My question is the PIM-SM code is already added in the kernel or should I add the code to the kernel explicitly.

Thanking you in advance

Regards
Aman
