I'm completely lost!

Well, I have no clue anymore. I won't google again, all I find is about windows.

I'm trying to learn the basics but I keep getting lost. So please, if someone could tell me if I have at least this right:

3 pc's, 1= server (clarkconnect) 2= linux debian 3= win

If I understood right then on my linux box I need at least smbclient to read shares on other pc's and the complete samba to show the shares on the box? Managing printer and permissions is done on the clark server and on some of the files on the debianbox using samba again? Smb4k uses the client software to show share on either of the pc's including the runnig server on debianbox if installed?

I know this must be stuppid questions but I'm getting confused what permissions on what box (deb or clark) I have to edit to get for instance my printer working that is connected on the clarkbox. From the winbox all works fine so I should be able to do this on de debianbox aswell (just don't know how)

If I connect with swat to localhost and get no access this has to do with permissions on the debianbox samba and has nothing to do with the clarkserver right?

Ahh, I'm loosing sleep over this. Well I bought the The Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide together with the example book. It should be here in a week. Perhaps even an idiot like me will learn. Now just pray that this book won't jsut handle windows.....

Regards

if you want to configure stuff using swat then dont do localhost from the debian box because that will just take you the the debian box.
If i assume correctly then the printer is connected to the clarksconnect box.
In that case swat is running on there too. If windows is able to access the printer then debian should be able to as well make sure that you are able to browse the the printer and see it.
I sounds more like a configuration issue on debian than anything else
to use google go to "http://www.google.com/linux"
then it will only search for linux related stuff
