Question huawei ti ets 2288 -ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 2-2:1.0 failed with error -5

i have tried things mentioned in the following 2 websites
1.http://installing-huawei-cdma-modem-...tion_8942.html
2.http://www.openpages.info/huawei.html
but in vain.
however i have notice a difference in their configuration and mine(
theirs' is ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 1-1:1.0
bu mine says i_usb_3410_5052: probe of 2-2:1.0
what should i do as even after i did as they said, i still get the ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 2-2:1.0 failed with error -5 error message.
what should i do to get my huawei ti ets 2288 working under linux.

Thats just the USB hub/address. It should not be a problem.

Did you create the /etc/hotplug "026_ti_usb_3410.rules" file?
If you then unplug and plug in the device a few times, does 'dmesg' show any progress?
Does 'udevinfo -e|more' show the device showhere?
If your address is 2-2:1.0, does 'ls /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-2:1.0' show anything?
And 'echo "2" > /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-2:1.0/bConfigurationValue' (see syslog)?

Unhappy yes i created the /etc/hotplug 026_ti_usb_3410.rules file,but even then i get the er

yes i created the /etc/hotplug "026_ti_usb_3410.rules" file?
here is what i did
1.connected the cable
2.opened console,typed sudo dmesg -c and looked for the lines
ti_usb_3410_5052 1-1:2.0: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter detected
usb 1-1: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter now attached to /dev/[/ttyUSB0
or
ti_usb_3410_5052 1-1:1.0: TI USB 3410 1 port adapter converter detected

ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 1-1:1.0 failed with error -5

3.found ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 2-2:1.0 failed with error -5
4.so i created an executable script withe following lines
#TI USB 3410

SUBSYSTEM=="usb_device" ACTION=="add" SYSFS{idVendor}=="0451",SYSFS{idProduct}=="3410" \

SYSFS{bNumConfigurations}=="2" \

SYSFS{bConfigurationValue}=="1" \

RUN+="/bin/sh -c 'echo 2 > /sys%p/device/bConfigurationValue'" in
/etc/udev/rules.d/026_ti_usb_3410.rules using the command sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/026_ti_usb_3410.rules
5.Removed the cable and re-pluged it
6.typed sudo dmesg -c
7.but even then i got the following error :-
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo dmesg -c
[ 573.179574] usb 2-2: USB disconnect, address 3
[ 576.624284] usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ ti_usb_3410_5052: probe of 2-2:1.0 failed with error -5

Smile i'll try the other commands you mentioned

thanks unSpawn for your precious time and for clearing my doubt regarding the 2-2:1.0(USB hub/address) being the cause for the error.
i don't know much about the internal workings of a computer or about os that runs on it,but i really do want to learn more.after a few days of using windows i fear computers as i don't know when it might crash next or when i would have to reinstall it.but just a day spent on linux and i know i have learnt a little more about computers.

With all due respect but I'd say start by rereading my reply. I asked more questions than you answered.

Hi unSpawn,
I have a similar problem with my Huawei ETS2558 CDMA Set. Under Ubuntu 8.04, dmesg gives 2-1:1.0 probe failed with error 5. I did create a .rules file in /etc/udev/rules.d which previously worked in another box running Fedora 9.
ls /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-1:1.0 shows a couple of files but no file named bConfigurationValue is present.
Any idea?

Can you trace back what changed between it working and not?
If you then unplug and plug in the device a few times, does 'dmesg' show anything related to the device? Does 'udevinfo -e|more' show the device at all? BTW, next time please create your own thread for your own questions. That's how we like to see things done at LQ. It's more efficient, it will give your questions the attention they deserve and you can't be "accused" of hijacking a thread.
