howto verify link speed

I'm assuming by the amount of time transfers take that I have gigabit speed between my linux boxes. Is there a way to show what speed a ETHx is connected at? I haven't found it through any ifconfig switches.

ethtool or mii-tool should do the job:
ethtool eth0
mii-tool -v
