HowTo: Block Ports with FC4

I have a old Dell desktop with Fedora Core 4 on it and am thinking of using it to control the traffic of our network, but we would also like to block all unknown ports and even some of the known ports. How would I be able to do that?
Thanks in advance.

If you're planning to use the box as a firewall / packet filter, you might consider looking at smoothwall. http://www.smoothwall.org/ Haven't used it myself, but I have read promising things about it.

If you insist on using FC4, I imagine you will just need to set up your iptables chains appropriately. Documentation here: http://www.netfilter.org/
