How to setup Internet ?

I have computer, Linux Slackware 2.4.18 and I want to connect it to LAN / Server (Win2000) so I can have internet access. How to do that ?
I already set ip address for my network adapter with netconfig :
ip =
netmask =
gateway =
and it asked if i connect to computer name. is this where i fill it with my dns server ?
btw, can my computer connect to internet through win2000 server ?
is there something i have to set ?
