Thanks for your response.

I have 1 server is running NT 4.0 (Primary domain controller).
2 computers are running Suse Linux 7.3 (1 server, 1 workstation)
6 computers are running Windows XP
2 comp are running Windows 2K
and 1 is running Windows 98.

I have T1, and using CAT5 to connect 2 servers together.

I can connect the Linux machine to the internet, but do not know where I should start to set up a LAN on the Linux Server or on the Linux Client. Currently, I have an existing network running on NT server. Just wanted to make connection from Linux server and client to the existing network. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot.

Lenka.

If you are already using a shared internet connections.. Windows / Linux box's then you already have your local LAN set up, can you ping each box on your network ?? If you would like to see your Linux boxes in Windows Network Neighborhood and have file shearing capabilities between boxes.. you would need to set up Samba.

Thanks for your reply.

I ping the NT server successfully, but the server does not show on my Linux client. I have not tried to ping each box yet.

Yes. I do want too, but I don't know how to do configuration samba on Linux box. As a new user of Linux, I did research online a bit but still do not where to start (on Linux Server or on Linux Client).

Just to make sure, you have a network and want to add two Linux-boxes. One server and one workstation? OKay, you need to set up samba on both machines, if you'd like to see both the server and the workstation in your Network Neighborhood that is.
Since you have SuSE 7.3 samba is probably installed already. There's really no way around, you'll have to read quite a bit to set it up correctly and make it work just the way you want it to. You can start by typing "man samba.conf" on one of your Linux-boxes! What else do you want to do with your Linux-boxes... www, mail-server, proxy-server??
