How to set up a global address book using LDAP?

I have an LDAP server running and already configured the Global Address Book using the following way

ou=Users,dc=example,dc=com

In addition to the above feature, I would also like to make available, email lists - for example lets say if I want to email all users in the marketing department, so I would just type

To: marketing
--------------
and I want that the mailing list 'Marketing' be defined in LDAP. But how to do this ??

Any ideas?

This would typically be done in the mail client (mozilla mail / thunderbird / evolution /outlook etc.)
