how to request a specific ip address with dhclient

I would like dhcpcd to assign me a specific ip address. Right now it gives me the ip address that the box last had issued to it and I can not figure out how to request an ip address. I am also not able to use a fixed ip address becasue I have to use DHCP for the project I am working on.
Any help is much appreciated!

My router has an option for called Fixed IP table within the DHCP configuration. I can set them there.

Your dhcp client can not request a specific IP, however the dhcp server can issue a specific IP based on the mac address of the client's NIC

Hi,

In your dhcpd.conf file, add these 4 lines under your subnet:

------------------------
host yourname {
hardware ethernet xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx;
fixed-address 192.168.x.x;
}
------------------------

Put your mac address in the 2nd line. Put the fixed IP you want in the third line.
