How to ping broadcast address

Using Fedora Core.

I tried pinging "ping -b 255.255.255.255" and "ping -b 10.255.255.255", both failed. Any suggestion?

Also, how about pinging broadcast under Windows? Anyone know?

ping -b *networkaddress*

In a 192.168.0/24 environment, ping -b 192.168.0 will ping 255 hosts.

In Windows, ping the broadcast of a network. So for a 192.168.0/24 network, ping 192.168.0.255, but don't expect a lot of addresses back.
