How to open ssh port ?


Can u tell me how to open ssh port i am using Debian 5.0.3 i38.

you don't open it. you stop it being blocked, which is not the same thing. Post the output of "iptables -vnL" and we'll see. First thing is to have an ssh service running of course...

no ssh is not runing i need to start it command was ending with init.d start something like that i found it on google before but now i cant find it

$IPTABLES -t filter -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT

sry it is not open it just need to be started i tried /etc/init.d/ssh start but it wont start

try to reinstall it.
sudo apt-get install openssh-server openssh-client
then
service ssh start
