How to monitor RS-232

Hi to all,

I have a problem with my PC communicating to another PC. My PC is Linux based (SuSE 7.3) and the remote PC is DOS-based. The communications runs over RS-232.

The DOS PC controls a laser, and my application sends commands (such as: FIRE! :-)

But sometimes it goes wrong and the laser is turned off.

Is it possible to scan or monitor the RS-232 port without interferring?!?

The RS-232 port is a tty (in this case tty81a) configured as follows:

stty raw clocal 9600 -echoe ... (etc.) < tty81a

Any help would be appreciated!

Regards,
Robin...
