how to make my pc obtain an ip address automatically

hi,
I m using Fedora 6 and my "neat" has crashed. Can anyone suggest me a way to configure my interface through commanadline to obtain a dynamic ip address rather than static ip.I tried ifconfig but its for static settings.
Please help me out..

Configure your file as:
# vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
TYPE=Ethernet
ONBOOT=yes
PEERDNS=yes

#service network restart

It will obtain ip from dhcp server

FC6 probably has the "system-config-network" utility you can use from the command line to make it even simpler.
