Question how to make a connection to winxp from debian?

I have Samba installed, but I didn't have time experimenting with it, and I will not have. So, would anybody tell me, how to connect to my winxp on the other computer, and from winxp to my linux? I need a simple "tutorial" like thing, which is easy to understand. Ping-ing the win computer works, so Linux can see it. I have Debian Linux installed. I have swat too. Thanks.

To connect to your Windows box you can use "smbmount", see the man page for usage. To connect to a Linux Samba share from Windows make sure "smbd" (the Samba daemon) is running on the Linux box after you have configured /etc/samba/smb.conf, you may need to rename one of the example files to smb.conf, then modify a few lines in the bottom of the file to set up your share.

connection, linux, winxp
