how to get to internet on system under VMWARE?

hi,

i've recently needed to do something in win_xp, so i've got it running under vmware. i chose bridged network in vmware-config.pl script and bridged it to wlan0, which is the interface i receive internet connection from. now when i start win_xp inside vmware, it obtains an IP, gateway, netmask, nameserver, everything is same as on linux (apart from last three numbers of IP), but i still can get to internet on it.

can anybody please advise me, what am i doing wrong?

I don't know why it's not working if it's getting an IP address but if you want to access the Internet on both the host and guest OS's you need to configure the guest NIC to use NAT instead of Bridge I think. That's always worked for me anyway.

Give it a go and let us know if that solved the problem.

well, you're right, after configuring NAT it works, thanks for a tip.

cheers
