how to get rid of Password prompt in Samba?

I've got Mandrake 9.2 with Samba 2.2.8 (added in standard with the
system). I'd like to open Windows XP shares on another computer connected through net adapters but without necessity of
pressing enter every time. There is no password set in Windows and
pressing enter is enough to connect to the share.
I mount share with 'smbmount' command.

Thanks for help.

Try changing the smb SOCKET_OPTIONS for the interface and turn on the KEEPALIVE option

Also include the mounts in your autofs config

The usual problem is that smb never expects the XP shares to be available all the time, so it needs to balance checking and disconnection, hence the connect on demand behaviour you are getting.
