Unhappy How to get linux logons from Win2000 domain

Hi,

I'm new to linux and i am having some problems with samba.

We have Windows 2000 network in my workplace and i am one of the administrators.

Right now we are looking into linux as an altanate to run our systems on and have severel users with linux boxes doing quite well.

Can somebody tell me if i can get the linux boxes to authenticate users off the Windows domain the same way windows 2000 workstations do?

is this even possible?

Please help because i will have to live in a windows ruled network till i get the hang of Samba.

Thanks.
