How to: File Sharing w/ Samba / SuSE 8.2 / XP Pro

I need to know how to do this for a complete Linux Newbie.
I am using a plain switch, not a router.
Do I need to disable a firewall on SuSE, if so, where?

Please explain in GUI terms if possible.
Thank you.

Sorry linuxgamer, there is no easy way. This book explains it way more simply than I could. Its free online.

You WILL be better for this if you work it out because you will learn a lot about how Linux thinks. I can tell you this much:

You will need to either disable the firewall (bad)
or
You will need to allow ports 137,138,139,444 and set the hosts.allow file to the IP address of the client (windows) computer (good).

you can download and install "gnosamba" a GUI frontend for samba.
also for using samba drives in windows machines you can try "LinNeighborhood"

for "gnosamba" try to find it at rpm.pbone.net according to your distribution
for LinNeighborhood, you can find it in suse 8.2 cd's (run YaST and choose Install/Remove Software. when it opens, Search for LinNeighborhood.

hope this helps

Bought SuSE Pro 9.0 and it worked so easy, less than 10 minutes
to setup file sharing.

That's the old one. Take a look at this one:
