How to edit the HOSTS file?
Hi,
I am very new to Linux and have a question:
I just installed Redhat Linux and need to edit the hosts file. When I try to bring it up, it loads as a "read only" file. Is there a special way to edit this file?
Thanks,
Dan

I think this file is owned by "root", and you either need to edit as root (su, password at prompt), or login as root.

You have to be root to edit /etc/hosts.
