Question How to disable networking function of a NIC

Hello everybody out there,

I'm trying to find a way to disable all the network activity on a NIC. This means there will be no packets sent or processed by the kernel. However, the NIC is still in active mode. This means I can sniff the packets by using libpcap or sending packets using socket function.

Have any of you ever done this? Please share with me your experience.

Thanks,
Thai.
