How to diagnose Samba server connection problems

Anyone have a suggestion how I might diagnose a Samba connection problem?

I have configured Samba server to Authenticate against our Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller. Windows machines can see the Samba Server but all fail to connect with error: Access is Denied. All of the shared directories have permission 0777.

I have deleted all the samba log files and disabled the firewall to rule that out. Now when I try to connect I see that a 'log.192.168.10.x' file gets created but size = 0 bytes.

As there is nothing in the log how can I find out why samba isn't working? Does Samba actually work with a Win 2012 server?

those log files <log.hostname> will be related to a given connection. You need to check the log of the samba daemon and/or inetd too. You need to check the samba config file and set log level in order to get more info

Thanks pan64. Turned Samba logging up to 10 and tried to connect to a share, log.192.168.10.67 attached. Are there any clues in there?

Edit:
Permission on /mnt/SpareSystem is 0777.
Attached Files
File Type: txt log.192.168.10.67.txt (6.9 KB, 35 views)
