How to determine IP address of ADSL router

I have a adsl router/modem that does NAT or masquardering. Its internal address is 192.XXXXX, how do I get the external address (public IP address)?

I have tried ifconfig, but that gives me only the internal or private address.

Thanks
Shelton.

Try logging into the modem/router - by going to the address of your gateway in a browser.

ok thanks - thought there could be an easier way by using one of the network commands like ifconfig.
