how to compare throughput between onboard ethernet and ethernet card

Hi all,
I have two ethernet cards.

One is an onboard ethernet card and one is a realtek8139C

Now is there any way to compare the throughputs between the two.

One of the cards is not connected atm, while the other is connected to a D-Link router for Internet.

Any tips/ideas for the same are welcome.

Also is there any way to know if any collision of packets are happening between the router and the ethernet card.

the output of ifconfig has a field called "collisions" that should give you a clue ;-)

iperf is a very good tool for measuring throughput.
