how to check if ntpd works


hi everyone

i've installed ntpd to sync my machines
i've read the docu on www.ntp.org

is there better documentation than that
in all those pages i didn't found how i can check
or i am running ntpd wright
and how to sync my clock
maybe i haven't been reading right because
after a bit i got a headache from it

could someone help me??

Try "ntpq -p"

when i tried i got the messages

No association ID's returned

what does it mean ?

No idea what it _means_ but that's also the message I get if I try "ntpq" immediately after starting up ntp. Give it a few minutes and try again.

will i think i killed ntpd but after reinstalling the package on the red hat CD
i got this after putting 4 servers in it
remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter
==============================================================================
ntp0.NL.net 0.0.0.0 16 u - 64 0 0.000 0.000 4000.00
hora.cs.tu-berl 0.0.0.0 16 u - 64 0 0.000 0.000 4000.00
ntp2.NL.net 0.0.0.0 16 u - 64 0 0.000 0.000 4000.00
ntp1.NL.net 0.0.0.0 16 u - 64 0 0.000 0.000 4000.00

but i don't seem to get to get my system synchronized

is there no better info to find on the net about this subject?

but when i do

doesn't auth has to state yes
