"How to check and open ports in Linux"
 
Hi, Im new to Linux and would like to ask for tutorial on how to check active and open ports in LInux and also how to open thos who are blocked.

I think your post will get moved to a more appropriate forum, but anyway:

use your help sources (info, man, google) to discover the following commands related
to your request:

netstat
nmap
lsof
ps

that ALL of the ports were open by default in my Distro (Mandrake 10.1). In addition to the above references, it is probably a good idea to have a machine that is external to your linux box in question actually CHECKING these ports for various levels of availability just to make sure (if you have the equipment to do this, that is)

If you are fortunate enough to have the equipment and the know how to get started with this, you might check
