How to automaticly install printer drivers on Windows machines?
 

First of all you have to excuse the English.

I've installed an Printer server with Debian and CUPS to have in my network with Windows NT and Windows XP clients.
If I browse the windows network to my linux machine I could see the printers and i could manually install it locally in the windows machine, but what I would like to do is so i could right click on the printer and choose install so that the drivers are automaticly uploaded to the client.

I've read a lot about these on the internet and tried some things.

Anyone here that has solved this problem? If so... How should I install the windows drivers on the linux machine?

Im using, Debian, Cups, HP Printers(with JetDirect interfaces), Canon Printers, Windows NT and XP clients.

hi danielblixt, welcome to lq. if i am understanding what you wish to do, you'll need to open the add a printer wizard from windows, navigate through that interface, install the printers from there. once that's done, you shouldn't have to add the printers again, they should load automatically on boot as long as the linux server is up, and, there have been no configuration changes. hope that helps.

Thats not really what I want to do.
I Want to have the drivers for the Windows machine on the Linux machine so that i dont have to browse the network to find the drivers.
I want to right click on the printer and choose connect(XP) and install(NT) and once thats done it should be finished.
I dont want to manually install the printers, because i have around 3000 windows clients and around 150 printers.

If you have a windows NT printer server you always has a share named print$ where all drivers are.
If you install a printer on a windows NT//2000/2003 server the drivers is always installed in print$

I've read about this on the internet and it should work with the print$ in linux also but I havenäe got it to work.
