Question How to Apply IP setting after changing configuration files under RH 8.0

Hello
I have RH 8.0 box.

After I made changes to the ip
configuration files (/etc/sysconfig/network and
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0),

I don't know how to apply ALL the changes
without restarting the system. I tried restarting the /etc/rc.d/init.d/network but ONLY the ip
address, netmask, default gateway, and
broadcast address were updated, but the
hostname is not changed until I restart
the system.

How can I apply hostname change written in the
/etc/sysconfig/network file without restarting
the system.

Note I don't want to use the command hostname.

Thanks

echo "your_hostname" > /prox/sys/kernel/hostname

which basically does what the command hostname does.
