Post How to access a port in SUSE 9.1

i am trying to access a port using java socket programming but unable to do this and i am getting this error:

>Could not listen on port: 214

please help me.

Welcome to LQ.

Are you starting the program as root? Other users will not have access to ports <1024 by default.
