How many NIC requier for Squid
 

Dear sir

Please tell me that how many NIC required for configure
squid server

I have Install redhat ES 4 and I want to configure squid proxy but I don,t know how to configure NIC
for Intranet and Internet.

thank you very much for reply but I am new in linux so,

I have install two NIC
1,eth0 internal network ip:192.168.1.5
2,eth1 connect to internet ip:192.168.1.179

but I am confused that what is gw for eth0 ?

is it 192.168.1.197 or else any ?

It depends. In some cases 0: when you don't have NICs, but ppp interfaces or similar things. In the normal case, however, you need two: internal and external.

Please be more specific about the problem you have. What fails: NIC configuration (module, IP) or the squid configuration (you can't tell it which interface to use as internal or external)?

Your gateway is eth1 (for the servers), when clients should have 192.168.1.5. If you really have IPs in the same class, be very careful when defining netmasks, it may cause problems.
