how do I tell if my ddwrt router turned switch is the bottleneck
Its is an asus rt n16 tuned into a switch and wireless ap. I can never seem to get better than 30 Mbits/s, even though the router cards are gigabit the tx is gigabit and the rx is gigabit. Also both machines are fairly new using at least sata 1 if not 3 hdds and intefaces. Furthermore, I have been watching cpu on the rx box and it is not even at half. The transfers are over smb2, since there seems to be something wrong with nfs right now. I understand overhead, but 30 out of 125 seems a little low.
I am thinking maybe the dated firmware on the switch may be the problem. Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) mega. But I can find little to no info on how to check this.
This is the closest thing I can find.

also I appologize for the ddwrt, but it is the only one I know how to install. I am trying to work on this :-)
Can you re-test using a single direct connected wired connection?
I have gotten speeds over the lan that are well above 100mbit/s so it must be gigabit and the problem must lie with the protocols and setup.
