How do I specify the address location of my DVD burner?

How do I specify the address location of my DVD burner? The default address location is incorrect as my DVD burner is networked at a different location.

My DVD burner opens from my shortcut which has the correct address location, but the system default address location needs to be change but I don't know where to go to change it.

I am using SuSE and KDE.

Cheers.

Is it a local DVD or are you trying to access a networked DVD? If not, is it on another Linux box or Windows or what?

I have two boxes. One SuSE and one XP which are networked. For example when I need to access the DVD on SuSE I click my shortcut I created in the taskbar. If a program needs the DVD I get an error message and have to type in the correct location. The DVD is physically located on the XP box.

The correct path is:
smb://(puter ID)/(drive)

SuSE keeps looking for it as being physically located on the SuSE box. I need to find the default location and change it.

Cheers.

okay, i'm with you so far... you are sharing a dvd drive on your windows box... you've created a shortcut on your linux desktop to access the dvd drive at it's network location, and you can tell your linux programs where the dvd drive is if they need it...

what's the command the shortcut is running?? what error message is it producing??

okay, what happens when you type that into konqueror, for example?? what error mesage is displayed??

the default location of what??

have you tried to mount the share and then access it through a regular directory on your drive??

you could then edit your /etc/fstab and have the share loaded at boot if available...

There must be a way to add hardware. A shared resource. I am using KDE and want to avoid the terminal. Cheers.
