K here the situation i want to connect my windows xp system and my fc3 box together so i transfer files between them, the xp system is my gaming system and use my cable connection and the fc3 box has a 1mb synchronous wireless local loop connection the xp system has the nvidia ethernet port free and i have a spare ethernet card attached to the fc3 box i want to be able to transfer file between the 2 systems without sharing a net connection or have either connection interfere with the other since i have very little experience with networking i haven't got a clue what to do?
One way is NFS, or if you want to keep it simple, use Samba, which is ideal for sharing files between Linux and Windows boxes. What do you mean don't want to share connections? Are these two on one connection, or are they in different domains?
correct i don't want to share the internet connections the xp system has a cable connection that has low latency so is good for gaming and the second has 1mb synchronous connection used for p2p stuff.
"Are these two on one connection, or are they in different domains?" not 100% sure what you mean both connections are from different isp's and don't have the same ip or subnet mask
